Lolo is Pachechi's grandfather, and a legendary explorer from the Golden Age of Discovery. He was known as The Albatross because of his incredible, non-instrumental navigational skills (navigation by the stars, sun, clouds, winds, seas, and marine life). He often regales Chechi and Markus with tales of his past adventures and the search for The Lost Land of Yehey.
Enthralled by Lolo's tall tales, Chechi is a feisty young girl who dreams of faraway lands and adventure. She is discontent with the mundane and ordinary life of her small village, and fears turning into a "townie." She tries to turn every experience into an adventure, much to the chagrin to her lifetime partner Markus.
Markus is a happy-go-lucky boy who loves animals, nature and exploring. His curious nature causes him to wander and sometimes become lost. Fascinated by legends and stories of old, Markus loves listening to Lolo's tall tales of adventure and the search for The Lost Land of Yehey. He dreams of exploring faraway lands and having adventures of his own.
